Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2008, Ireland's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 77.8% compared to 2007, reaching 42.5%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.1%.

Ireland ranks 13th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 42.6% (from 29.8% in 2003).
