Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2016, Ireland's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 1.8% compared to 2015, reaching 72.7%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 84.1%.

Ireland ranks 12th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 33.7% (from 109.6% in 2011).
