Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2009, Latvia's population change decreased by 8.0% compared to 2008, reaching 10.3.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.5.

Latvia ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 13.2% (from 9.1 in 2004).
