Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2008, Latvia's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 119.1% compared to 2007, reaching 19.5%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.1%.

Latvia ranks 22nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 31.8% (from 14.8% in 2003).
