Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2021, Latvia's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 4.3% compared to 2020, reaching 45.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 86.7%.

Latvia ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 10.1% (from 41.7% in 2016).
