Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 1976, Malta's population change increased by 2.1% compared to 1975, reaching 9.7.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.4.

Malta ranks 16th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 4.9% (from 10.2 in 1971).
