Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 1997, Malta's population change increased by 2.7% compared to 1996, reaching 7.5.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.1.

Malta ranks 26th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 5.1% (from 7.9 in 1992).
