Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 1999, Malta's population change increased by 1.3% compared to 1998, reaching 7.9.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.1.

Malta ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 9.7% (from 7.2 in 1994).
