Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2002, Malta's population change increased by 2.7% compared to 2001, reaching 7.6.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.0.

Malta ranks 25th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 1.3% (from 7.5 in 1997).
