Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2006, Malta's population change increased by 1.3% compared to 2005, reaching 7.9.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 9.7.

Malta ranks 25th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.8% (from 7.4 in 2001).
