In 2024, Malta's main national accounts tax aggregates decreased by 1.1% compared to 2023, reaching 9.2%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 12.8%.

Malta ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 17.1% (from 11.1% in 2019).
