Housing cost overburden rate by poverty status - EU-SILC survey

In 2024, Malta's housing cost overburden rate by poverty status decreased by 1.7% compared to 2023, reaching 5.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 8.2%.

Malta ranks 19th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 126.9% (from 2.6% in 2019).
