Unemployment by sex and age - annual data

In 2020, Malta's unemployment by sex and age increased by 19.5% compared to 2019, reaching 4.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 7.2%.

Malta ranks 22nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 9.3% (from 5.4% in 2015).
