Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2021, Netherlands's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 5.4% compared to 2020, reaching 50.5%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 86.7%.

Netherlands ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 17.1% (from 60.9% in 2016).
