Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2020, Netherlands's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 11.9% compared to 2019, reaching 53.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 89.5%.

Netherlands ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 16.3% (from 63.8% in 2015).
