In 2022, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 3.3% compared to 2021, reaching 16,941.

Portugal ranks 12th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 25.9% (from 22,873 in 2017).
