In 1995, Romania's fertility indicators decreased by 5.0% compared to 1994, reaching 1.33.

Romania ranks 17th out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 27.3% (from 1.83 in 1990).
