Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2019, Romania's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 1.7% compared to 2018, reaching 35.2%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 77.5%.

Romania ranks 23rd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 10.0% (from 39.1% in 2014).
