In 2023, Romania's main national accounts tax aggregates decreased by 2.5% compared to 2022, reaching 27.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 39.7%.

Romania ranks 25th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.6% (from 26.7% in 2018).
