In 1998, Slovakia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 5.3% compared to 1997, reaching 1,196,109.

Slovakia ranks 18th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 20.2% (from 994,933 in 1993).
