In 1999, Slovakia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 3.4% compared to 1998, reaching 1,236,400.

Slovakia ranks 19th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 24.4% (from 994,046 in 1994).
