Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2006, Spain's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 8.0% compared to 2005, reaching 39.0%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.0%.

Spain ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 27.9% (from 54.1% in 2001).
