Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2009, Spain's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 34.1% compared to 2008, reaching 53.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 75.7%.

Spain ranks 13th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 17.2% (from 45.3% in 2004).
