Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2008, Sweden's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 3.3% compared to 2007, reaching 38.0%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.1%.

Sweden ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 23.2% (from 49.5% in 2003).
