Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2016, Sweden's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 3.6% compared to 2015, reaching 43.2%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 84.1%.

Sweden ranks 19th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 14.3% (from 37.8% in 2011).
