In 1971, Sweden's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 3.6% compared to 1970, reaching 190,168.

Sweden ranks 7th out of 21 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 16.0% (from 163,880 in 1966).
