In 1991, Austria's fertility indicators increased by 3.4% compared to 1990, reaching 1.51.

Austria ranks 19th out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 4.1% (from 1.45 in 1986).
