Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2006, Bulgaria's population change increased by 4.3% compared to 2005, reaching 9.7.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.3.

Bulgaria ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 14.1% (from 8.5 in 2001).
