Employment rates by citizenship

In 2023, Bulgaria's employment rates by citizenship decreased by 0.1% compared to 2022, reaching 73.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 75.1%.

Bulgaria ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 3.4% (from 71.5% in 2018).
