Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2016, Bulgaria's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 12.4% compared to 2015, reaching 29.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 84.1%.

Bulgaria ranks 25th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 91.4% (from 15.2% in 2011).
