In 2025, Cyprus's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 12.3% compared to 2024, reaching 55.0%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 81.7%.

Cyprus ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 51.6% (from 113.6% in 2020).
