Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2016, Germany's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 4.1% compared to 2015, reaching 68.3%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 84.1%.

Germany ranks 14th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 13.0% (from 78.5% in 2011).
