In 2014, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 2.2% compared to 2013, reaching 18.6%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.4%.
Ireland ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 1.1% (from 18.8% in 2009).
