In 2005, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 10.0% compared to 2004, reaching 20.6%.

Ireland ranks 5th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 1.9% (from 21.0% in 2000).
