In 2020, Ireland's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 25.3% compared to 2019, reaching 48,830.

Ireland ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 32.8% (from 72,716 in 2015).
