Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2020, Ireland's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 2.0% compared to 2019, reaching 56.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 89.5%.

Ireland ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 23.1% (from 74.0% in 2015).
