Fertility indicators

In 1996, Italy's fertility indicators increased by 0.8% compared to 1995, reaching 1.20.

Italy ranks 21st out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 7.7% (from 1.30 in 1991).
