In 2005, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex stood at 23.3%.

Malta ranks 6th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 16.5% (from 20.0% in 2000).
