In 2017, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 4.8% compared to 2016, reaching 17.3%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 17.5%.
Malta ranks 11th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 9.5% (from 15.8% in 2012).
