Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2021, Malta's population change increased by 1.3% compared to 2020, reaching 8.0.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 11.9.

Malta ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 8.1% (from 7.4 in 2016).
