Fertility indicators

In 1996, Portugal's fertility indicators increased by 2.1% compared to 1995, reaching 1.44.

Portugal ranks 15th out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 7.7% (from 1.56 in 1991).
