In 2013, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 12.4% compared to 2012, reaching 38,390.

Portugal ranks 12th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 28.6% (from 53,751 in 2008).
