In 2014, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 9.8% compared to 2013, reaching 34,612.

Portugal ranks 13th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 29.8% (from 49,317 in 2009).
