Employment rates by citizenship

In 2025, Romania's employment rates by citizenship decreased by 1.6% compared to 2024, reaching 54.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 66.6%.

Romania ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 3.7% (from 56.5% in 2020).
