Employment rates by citizenship

In 2021, Romania's employment rates by citizenship decreased by 4.4% compared to 2020, reaching 71.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 73.3%.

Romania ranks 21st out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.0% (from 69.7% in 2016).
