Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2009, Romania's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 77.2% compared to 2008, reaching 21.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 75.7%.

Romania ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 15.3% (from 18.9% in 2004).
