In 2016, Romania's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 7.5% compared to 2015, reaching 27,332.

Romania ranks 12th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 67.6% (from 16,311 in 2011).
