Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2008, Slovakia's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 5.9% compared to 2007, reaching 28.6%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.1%.

Slovakia ranks 19th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 34.4% (from 43.6% in 2003).
