In 2017, Austria's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 8.2% compared to 2016, reaching 131,717.

Austria ranks 9th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 10.1% (from 146,520 in 2012).
