In 1981, Austria's fertility indicators increased by 1.2% compared to 1980, reaching 1.67.

Austria ranks 13th out of 20 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 1.2% (from 1.69 in 1976).
